Simple Lunch for a day out

Amy had the chance to participate in a voice workshop with Voces8 and then give a free performance on the steps of City Hall. It was at 12:15 so we had to quickly rush over after picking up Heidi from school. You know how Heidi can't wait 2 minutes to eat her lunch after school so I packed her this little lunch to bring with us. I thought she might want to start eating it in the car so I used our lunchbots quad container as it's size is just perfect for her little hands and lap.

carrot sticks, pineapple, grapes, cheese sandwiches with cheese flower topper

I did pack a little cup of dip for her carrots after I took the picture (I forgot at first!)

Here's a little clip of their performance. Amy is in the very middle group (white shirts and khaki bottoms), in the second row. It was a bit windy and my video skills could use some work!

Winnie the Pooh lunch

Today it's A.A. Milne's birthday. So I made a Winnie the Pooh lunch for my sweet Heidi.
cantaloupe, strawberries, grapes
Pooh shaped boiled egg, craisins, mini Pooh cup with white chocolate chips
green beans from our garden and carrots, mini ham sandwich

I attempted to tint my boiled egg yellow with some curry powder but it didn't quite work. Oh bother! I used our semi-new lunchbots duo. I have to say that I really love this bento box. Today, her lunchbox love note has a little fun fact about 'Roo :) I have made a couple of other Winnie the Pooh lunches in the past. Here they are.

Easy Lunches for a late morning

I have had a bad headache for two days in a row now :( Just couldn't get out of bed this morning. So we didn't get up until 8 am today -  lunches had to be easy and fast. It's been pretty cold (for here) lately and I asked the girls if they wanted soup. Rose and Heidi said yes, Amy still wanted a sandwich. I'll make Heidi some soup when she comes home from school at lunchtime.

Rose's Lunch - packed in a Lunchbots duo and a Thermos Funtainer
bread and butter with fruit leather stars, grapes and strawberries, chicken noodle soup

Amy's Lunch
ham sandwich with strawberry fruit leather, mini cup of m&ms, cheez its, grapes and strawberries

Last night I made delicious pulled pork in the crock pot and we had pulled pork sandwiches for dinner. I already can't wait until lunchtime so that I can have the leftovers! Yum!!

New lunchbox -- LunchBots

Amy has been having trouble eating enough lunch on a Monday as she eats quickly and then goes to choir at lunchtime during school. I tried out this new lunch box and packed a smaller lunch that hopefully she can eat in the allotted time. I also sent a much larger morning snack to help even it out. This seems much better than the usual "pack a normal lunch and then she only eats a few nibbles and comes home ravenous and has to rush to ballet after school eating a snack in the car and complaining that she's hungry as we drive" scenario that has been playing out for weeks. These are also her favourite things so there are no excuses! Well so far it worked. Will have to keep this up for future Mondays.

clementine, half a sandwich, carrots and peanut butter, goldfish

I've had my eyes on the LunchBots for awhile now and I finally bought a few to try at People's Pharmacy. I think they are fun to pack but the lids were kind of hard to get off. I prefer stainless steel to plastic for lunches and was hoping that this might be another  style  that Heidi would like but she can't take the lid off herself and I predict a lunch flying through the air disaster when she tries. So for now these are going to be for Amy. If the lids loosen up a bit Heidi can try them too. The local price was very reasonable but selection was limited as they have been in stock for ages and have been picked over.
