Friday = snacks. Hello Kitty & Pooh

Almost made it through the day without realising that it was Friday the 13th! The oldest girls only needed a snack to go with their hot lunch, Heidi only takes a drink. Friday mornings are the easiest <3

Amy - Hello Kitty
honeydew melon, grapes, teddy grahams and a HK boiled egg

Rose - Pooh Bear
grapes & honeydew melon with pooh bear picks
teddy grahams and a Pooh boiled egg

Only a few teddy grahams, a couple of grapes and the boiled egg yolk were left uneaten. (well plus the hot dog bun since Amy doesn't like the bun!?!)

Fun With Food Writers

Some fun with food writers lunches. Amy's been in her glory since she always begs for me to "colour" her sandwich. The food writers still annoy me as I haven't discovered their trick yet. There just HAS to be one or two secrets to making these work better. I try to avoid them all together but when Nana bought home a new package with pink, purple & orange I couldn't hide them in the drawer fast enough and the little munchkins have not forgotten them!

Amy's Lunch
popcorn, cantaloupe & grapes, diced peaches, celery sticks, peanut butter dip & carrots
raisins, ham sandwich with Dalmatian topper (provolone cheese)

 Rose's Lunch:
popcorn, raisins, cantaloupe, grapes, peaches, celery, carrots, tomato & ranch dip
raisins, ham sandwich with *calico* kitty topper

Heidi's lunch
popcorn, cantaloupe, grapes, peaches, raisins, mozzarella cheese
ham sandwich with butterfly cheese toppers

I had NO intention of putting a food colouring filled, cheese topper on Heidi's lunch until she stood at the counter to watch me make lunch and then asked so sweetly "Where's mine?". I cut the butterflies out of the cheese scraps. I have NO willpower in the morning these days. I'm just glad they aren't asking for candy.

Spot & his kitty friend.

Somehow - I missed taking a photo of Heidi's lunch today! Here are the other two.

Spot the puppy for Amy
diced peaches, strawberries, granola bar, vitamins
honeydew melon, Peanut butter sandwich with puppy cheese topper

Rarely do I use the food colour markers as I figure they probably don't need that added to their diet. Amy has been just begging me to to use them on her lunch. I think someone at school must have pretty coloured sandwiches! Well I decided to do it as a surprise today  - and when she spied me making her lunch she was so excited you would have thought I filled it with candy! She had to go for a vaccination today so I thought this might make her happy when she got back to school just in time for lunch. (She was very brave at the Dr.'s and the Dr was just fabulous with her as usual so I was relieved.)

Rose's Lunch - almost the same as above
diced peaches, strawberry, granola bar, vitamins
honeydew melon, strawberry jam semi-sealed sandwich (it didn't work out too well) with an American cheese kitty on top

There have been odd times where not much lunch has been eaten in the past 2 weeks or so. Amy claims that she doesn't have enough time. Rose doesn't really have an answer. I have been trying to put in more fruit and other things that they really like without many new items,  but I cannot tell if it made a difference or not. It's still pretty hot here and maybe they just really aren't that hungry at lunchtime. If it continues I'll ask the teachers for their thoughts on what might be happening.

Lunch x 5!

A friend was over with her children and I made them all a planetbox lunch - so that was 5 lunches at once. Here we go:
Lunch #1
Goldfish & yogurt covered raisins, ranch dip, cucumbers, tomato, celery, carrots
strawberries, blueberries, honeydew, cherry fruit leather fish, fish sandwich ( it was ham I think)

Lunch #2
goldfish & yog covered raisins, dip, cucumbers, carrots,
berries & melon, cherry fruit leather fish,
ham cat sandwich with a very crooked mouth - lol!

Lunch #3 - Heidi's lunch
pretty much the same as the others except no dip, no celery, no picks
and a peanut butter duck sandwich

Lunch #4 - Amy's lunch choices
butterfly crackers, boiled egg, yogurt covered raisins, cucumber flowers & carrot sticks
blueberries & strawberries, honeydew melon, cherry fruit leather butterfly
cat sandwich - either PB or ham I can't remember!

Lunch #5 - Rosie's lunch
butterfly crackers, yog covered raisins, dip, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, celery
strawberries & blue berries, honeydew melon, fruit leather crown, butterfly sandwich.

I didn't over decorate her butterfly with jumbo sprinkles as I usually would as I didn't want it to seem unfair to the other children who only had a candy eye or two on their sandwich! So a very plain butterfly it was - no complaints :)

Rose didn't eat too much of her lunch as she wanted to go back to playing - the others ate lots :) I realised afterwards that I had put a little too much in Heidi's but she still ate a good portion of it.
