Grownup Lunch!

Here's a lunch I packed for my husband to take to work. This is a huge container so that is a decent sized salad!

Leftover potato salad, pears with a few pieces of dried mango.
Mixed salad with romaine, grape tomatoes, mini bell peppers, cucumbers
ham, cheese, carrots & snap peas. I didn't' send dressing because we have some in the office fridge.
I heard this was good :)

These containers are the ones I usually send the girls for their hot lunch because they seal really well. This is helpful when they don't eat everything and leave dressed salad, coleslaw or pasta sauce. They are just so darn big it annoys me. It makes them hard to pack in lunch bags, particularly on days when they need a morning snack AND an afternoon snack. They're fine for grownups though!

Here are some items that I used when making this lunch.

Ceasar Salad lunch

Day 2 for Amy was a salad lunch. She picked everything.

Snack is apples, carrots & peanut butter.
Her lunch is a Ceasar salad with no croutons, the dressing is in a container under the peanut butter
with a side of pears.

This is a Rubbermaid lunch blox divided container, they aren't huge but it was still a bit too much for her.  To be fair I did pack quite a bit of lettuce in there. The carrots are in a cube sized Sistema snack container and the peanut butter fit right on top in a little cup that sits under the lid. I think we will like that container this year! I bought all of these containers at Lindo's Devonshire but you can find them at lots of places - including Amazon!

Gluten Free, Dairy Free lunch with Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Yesterday, I posted one of Rose's favourite kinds of lunch - the snack box. Today her Planetbox has her second favourite kind of lunch - salad.

Rose has Applegate Farms chicken strips, red grapes, dairy & gluten free choc chip banana bread (recipe from Natural Nutrition) with probably a bit too large of a smear of dairy free butter like spread! The main compartment has all of her favourite veggies in a salad - romaine lettuce, grape tomatoes, yellow mini bell pepper, carrot coins & cucumber.

When she came home she said it was the best lunch ever, even the chicken. Love her.

A pair of fruit salads

I made two fruit salad lunches for Heidi & Amy. These lunches were super fast to make - 5 Minutes tops! Everyone made it to school on time - phew!

Heidi has Ritz crackers, ham & turkey rollups, carrot sticks with ranch dip and a fruot salad made to order. She requested peaches, honeydew melon, grapes, apples and maraschino cherries.

Amy's lunch is almost identical. She has the same fruit salad that Heidi chose, plus there are a few pears added.

Vegetarian Sandwich & Salad Lunch

I have had some crazy weeks. Busy at work, 2 business trips, I was sick, the kids were sick and so on. I haven't posted a lunch in ages but I have a few photos from the past couple of weeks. This is one that was for Rose.
For Rose I packed, 2 bunny shaped cheese sandwiches, a medley of berries, a string cheese, salad made with Wadson's Farms baby butter lettuce, orange peppers, carrot bunnes, cucumber butterflies and grape tomatoes. I've been packing her a cute little fork in a case each day. I'll try to remember to take a photo!

This was basically all of her favourite things. All but a few bites were eaten!

Here are some items that I used when making this lunch.

Pretty Little Salad

Sweet little Rose asked for salad only for her lunch on Friday. I packed her half a sandwich also.

Flower stamped cheese sandwiches made with the ultra thin Sargento cheddar slices. This is the equivalent of half a sandwich and the ultra thin cheese is contributing minimal protein so I added some cheese sticks/cubes that I cut from a larger block of Irish cheddar. Rose also has yellow bell pepper strips and watermelon pieces. The salad that she requested is made up of green leafy lettuce, grape tomatoes, cucumber and carrot shapes.

She ate almost everything leaving a few pieces of lettuce and carrots that the guinea pigs were happy to receive! The picture is fuzzy because of my broken camera :( boo. I love all of the paper backgrounds that other lunch bloggers use when taking photos. I mostly have a bunch of Christmas colour scrapbook paper so I have been using something new for the past few days. Our Funkins napkins! They have reversible patterns. The girls love taking them to school in their lunch bags and I love the backgrounds in my photos.
