Hello Kitty themed Lunch.

Hello Kitty Fun lunch! I made this fun lunch with Hello Kitty and some patterns for Amy.

Amy has a Hello Kitty shaped boiled egg, some goldfish crackers, cucumber and carrot slices, red & green grapes. Her turkey sandwich was easily decorated using a Hello Kitty stencil and some cinnamon.
These are really all of her favourite things so it was no surprise that she ate almost everything.

Here are some items that I used when making this lunch.

Hello Kitty Sandwiches

I purchased a set of two Hello Kitty vegetable cutters with stamps recently. They are a great size for mini sandwiches. I made Rose & Amy almost identical Hello Kitty lunches. They were thrilled!

Amy's Lunch
sliced plums, sliced apples, carrot & cucumbers sticks, grape tomato (she still didn't eat it)
2 cupcake flavoured Goldfish, mini cup with vitamins, 2 Hello Kitty Sandwiches

Rose's Lunch
Everything is the same as Amy's lunch above but I gave her extra tomatoes since she loves tomatoes

Easy lunches with lots of variety

Simple lunches with lots of variety for the girls. This was Rose's first day of school (Thursday) and she couldn't wait to go and see her friends and the new materials in the classroom. She was also excited to be a big sister to Heidi and to help walk her to her classroom in the morning.

Amy's Lunch
black grapes, strawberry hearts,
carrot sticks, goldfish smore's, vitamin gummies
craisins, cantaloupe
ham sandwich on a bun

Somehow we managed to run out of bread already! The girls love these little Portuguese rolls so it worked out wonderfully.  Amy did not eat her goldfish or carrots because they got mixed up and were "yucky". Good to note for next time.

Rose's lunch
blueberries, strawberry hearts
grape tomatoes, carrot sticks, mini cup of dip
vitamin gummies, cantaloupe, goldfish smore's
hand and cheddar sandwich bun

Rose said "those goldfish were delicious" and she ate them all. I decided that I would make Heidi lunch and keep it in the fridge until she got home from school. It worked out great as she said that she was starving as soon as she walked in the door and all I had to do was take her lunch out of the fridge. I have been trying out the EasyLunchboxes this summer. This is the first time posting one. So far we like them but we haven't actually taken them out and about too much, mostly to the pool in the summer. No complaints! They aren't marketed as leakproof so I would not pack yogurt like this and send it off to school. Others have said that you can put a piece of press n seal over the yogurt and send it that way, or use a small lidded container inside. There is a brand new product added to their line up called mini dippers. These are leak proof, and while I don't have any yet, it would be a great option to contain yogurt.

Heidi's  At Home Lunch
chocolate chip cookies, goldfish
half of a ham and cheddar sandwich on a bun
cantaloupe and blueberries
vanilla yogurt with some sprinkles in the mini green cup

I think it was a bit much food for her, she ate the yogurt first, part of the sandwich, a couple of goldfish and a few blueberries. I guess she wasn't as hungry as I thought. Need to pack a little less next time. The little cat pick in the blueberries is a flexible pick. It's a good choice for littler kids as it's very bendy and they aren't likely to poke themselves or others with it! Heidi does very well with picks now so I am less concerned, but I do usually try to stick with the fork like ones for her and not the very pointy sticks.

Hello Kitty lunch in a Monkey shaped bento box

Hello Kitty Lunch for Rosie

Bottom Tier:
Hello Kitty onigiri with fruit leather and pepperoni accents
carrot sticks, meatballs with a cup of BBQ sauce (saved from takeout!)
Hello Kitty mini container holds a few gummy fruit snacks, cherry tomato from our garden
Top Tier:
strawberry hearts, clementine, red grapes

Here it is all packed up and ready to go!
This lunchbox came from Old Navy. They had several other styles but when I went to order one in their sale it was the only design left - $1.80 a good deal! I think it's a monkey.

Hello Kitty

Hello Kitty lunch for Amy
2 HK ham sandwiches, HK moulded boiled egg
plum slices, carrot sticks, celery sticks
cucumber round with orange pepper center

This was a pretty fast at home lunch from yesterday. I used a Hello Kitty rice mould as a cutter to cut out the Hello Kitty mini sandwiches. When I served it to Amy she instantly proclaimed that she isn't going to eat those bows. Literally the first words out of her mouth! I told her to please try it - she licked it and said no way!
Oh, that picky one. She ate all of the rest though.

Hello Kitty shaped boiled egg, carrots sticks

She ate everything except the blueberries. I only put a few as I just keep hoping she'll try them. Not yet.

Friday = snacks. Hello Kitty & Pooh

Almost made it through the day without realising that it was Friday the 13th! The oldest girls only needed a snack to go with their hot lunch, Heidi only takes a drink. Friday mornings are the easiest <3

Amy - Hello Kitty
honeydew melon, grapes, teddy grahams and a HK boiled egg

Rose - Pooh Bear
grapes & honeydew melon with pooh bear picks
teddy grahams and a Pooh boiled egg

Only a few teddy grahams, a couple of grapes and the boiled egg yolk were left uneaten. (well plus the hot dog bun since Amy doesn't like the bun!?!)

Snack Day!

Everyone has pizza lunch at school today - so a little bit of fruit for Amy & Rose to go with it. Both girls have the same: honeydew melon, grapes and a mini PB heart sandwich. I used Pepperidge Farm very thin sliced bread so it's a true mini!

Hello Kitty Lunches x2

Yesterday was the first day back at school from Christmas Break. We started off our New Year with a tried and true favourite -- Hello Kitty!

Rose's Lunch
vanilla yogurt w/ sprinkles in the HK cup, cucumbers & carrots
grapes, clementines, honeydew melon
bologna sandwich with HK stencil

Amy's Lunch
HK egg, HK cup with PB for her carrots, cucumber
honeydew melon, clementine, grapes
cinnamon bread & butter with food writers HK drawn on
(you'll just have to trust me I know it's hard to see!!)

There is a story behind this lunch! I was all set to make two lunches exactly the same and then I was spotted making lunch. The crowd gathered. Rose was thrilled once she saw sprinkles. Amy - not so much. She did not want yogurt like her sister, and she only wanted a ham sandwich (which we didn't have!). We settled on her favourite cinnamon bread & butter, so I had to throw in a last minute protein punch of a boiled egg! You might know there is no such thing as a last minute boiled egg and I did not have jumbo eggs so it didn't come out so pretty. Plus drawing HK on swirly bread was pretty difficult. She knows it's Hello Kitty and she loves when I draw on her bread,  so she's happy :) Phew.

After School Snack

This is Amy's from last week, packed in her favourite Hello Kitty bento. I made it simple as she doesn't have much time to eat a snack before her after school club, and she's always starving.

Clementine, ritz crackers, ham flower

It was kind of a rush job on the ham flower and I didn't really have time to tidy it AND take a new picture. Also - she said the candy dot flower center kind of melted by the time she ate it. So no more candy flower centers. The baran worked and the ritz crackers weren't mushy from being next to the clementines.

Snacks!

Two snacks for the girls from last Friday. They had hot lunch at school again and only needed a snack. I was totally worn out from a long night the night before so very thankful that I didn't have to make lunches! Plus they told me what they wanted and that made is super easy.

Amy's
apple cinnamon rice cakes, pineapple, clementines

 Rose's
chocolate chip cookies, clementine, orange pepper strips,
sunflower seeds in the HK cup (it's hiding near the bottom)

Hello Kitty Snack

A Hello Kitty snack for the last day of camp.

Hello Kitty shaped boiled egg (in a HK cupcake wrapper)
cantaloupe, grapes & chocolate chips in the HK container

The egg looks more like HK in real life. The photos do not do it justice.

Hello Kitty

Hello Kitty for Amy in a Gladware lunch container.
grapes, clementines, craisins ( in the Hello Kitty cup), sesame crackers
peanut butter sandwich with Hello Kitty stencil in cinnamon
Hello Kitty boiled egg, carrot sticks, grape tomatoes, cucumbers

She loved the Hello Kitty in cinnamon but still wouldn't eat the tomatoes.
Oh well - it was still worth a re-visit!

Hello Kitty Planetbox

Only one lunch to make this morning as R is still sick. So with a little extra time on my hands I decided to try something new - stencils. Well a single stencil really. It was OK for a first try but I got some strays around the edge. Plus the image wasn't defined extremely well. Oh and I also did it backwards so her bow is on the wrong side - what a great first try - LOL. Still it was totally recognizable and Amy was thrilled - which might have something to do with the fact that is was made from pink sugar!! With a little practice I think I just might like stencils. So here's her lunch for today.

Hello Kitty & My Melody Lunch
"My Melody" boiled egg, carrot sticks, cheerios, peanut butter dip for carrots
grapes, pineapple, Hello Kitty icing decoration
bologna sandwich with pink Hello Kitty stencil

I had intended to make the boiled egg Hello Kitty herself but I forgot my Hello Kitty mold works best with jumbo eggs and I only boiled large eggs. I didn't make it until this morning and I had extra time but not so much extra time to re-boil a jumbo egg - so I just used my bunny mold and decided it was going to be My Melody. It's kind of hard to see in the photo - but it came out nicely IRL.

I know carrot sticks with peanut butter might sound weird to some but Amy won't eat any other kind of dip. Hey whatever works for the picky one and she got to have a cute little Hello Kitty dip container :)
The bunny pick is just a bunny pick and not an "official" My Melody pick. I am improvising today. These are from my new stash that arrived last week. There are two of each - one bunny was already packed for lunch today.

I LOVE the little fork-like end on these picks. The girls eat with their picks and these just make it super easy. Even H could manage. I still don't give her any picks and I only know this because she tried to swipe some from R's MTM yesterday which had a bunch of these in it.

I decided to share this on What's for Lunch Wednesday. Hop on over and check out what everyone else is sharing.
